Statement on Elections Day

Statement on Elections Day

7 May 2014

The much anticipated day has arrived where South Africans will go out and vote for the parties of their choice which they believe in their policies. The majority of South Africans have confirmed that they still believe in the policies of the African National Congress and believe that the ANC has a good story to tell.

Whilst everyone is excited about voting, especially first time voters and those who abstained from voting over the past years, the ANC in the Northern Cape is saddened by the passing on of our two party agents from the Frances Baard Region, in the Dikgatlong sub-region who was involved in a car accident. The driver allegedly lost control due to tyre burst when they were on their way to Blikfontein polling station.

This unfortunate incident took place while these comrades were on duty to ensure that the ANC attain the 70% victory in the Northern Cape. We salute them for their commitment to the agenda of liberating our people from inequality, poverty and under development.

The ANC sends its deepest condolences to the families of the two cadres, our prayers are with you in this time of grieve and pain. May their dear souls rest in eternal peace.
