ANC in the Northern Cape to welcome the remains of the exhumed MKMVA Comrades

The African National Congress in the Northern Cape will officially welcome the remains of two Umkhonto We Sizwe (MK) combatants, the remains will be handed over to the two families by the Minister of Justice and Constitutional Services, Adv Michael Mashuta at the Freedom Park in Pretoria, Gauteng Province, on Friday 24 July 2015.

The two remains of the MK combatants from the Northern cape who are part of 10(ten) MK combatants in the country will then both be transported to Kimberly;

Phemelo Moses Ntehelang who was an MK combatant, from Kuruman in the John Taolo Gaetsewe Region was arrested in 1988 while operating inside the country. After spending 6 (six) months in Section 29 detention. He was then killed in 1989 after absconding from Vlakplaas on several occasions. Phemelo Ntehelang was beaten and died while being suffocated with a tyre tube. His body was then taken to a private farm 40km outside Zeerust where he was secretly buried.

Leonard Tebogo Tume was an MK combatant from Kimberley in the Frances Baard Region, who went into Exile in November 1976 and joined the ANC where he underwent military training as an MK member. In 1980 he entered the country to operate underground but was shot dead in a skirmish with the apartheid police on 13 June 1980. His remains were traced to a pauper grave in Avalon Cemetry in Soweto on 13 March 2015.

Both remains will be welcomed by a delegation of ANC members and supporters lead by the Provincial Deputy Secretary of the ANC, Cde Alvin Botes as follows

The ANC in the province welcomes the remains of the two MK combatants who were part of the liberation of the people of this country. The ANC also welcomes this initiative by government in assisting to heal the wounds caused by the apartheid government.
