The African National Congress in the Northern Cape welcomes the audit outcome as presented by the auditor general today. The ANC commends the Northern Cape Department of Education on their unqualified audit report, this after so many years of receiving a qualified report form the Auditor general. We congratulate the staff of the Department under the leadership of the late Cde. Grizelda Cjiekella-Lecholo, who led this department into receiving the unqualified report. This indeed proves the commitment that the ANC-led Government has in improving the lives of the people of the Northern Cape, who have entrusted the ANC to create a better life and so remains the only hope for the people of the province. The improvements in the unqualified audit opinions on the financial statements from 12 to 15 is evident of this very commitment.
Although a lot needs to be done in improving the audit outcomes of the province, we commend the Premier of the province on making the commitment to strengthen the financial management capacity of the province by appointing competent people in the vacant positions, this we see as extremely important in ensuring that we deliver services to the people of the Northen Cape. The ANC therefore also welcomes the commitment by the premier to establish a task team to guide the province on Supply Chain Management compliance.
We surely are moving forward to achieving the ideals as set out in the freedom charter.
Issued by the African National Congress- Northern Cape.
